SourceSecure is being merged into CVSDude

SourceSecure to be merged into CVSDude

I have some exciting news! Ariaware and CVSDude will be announcing today that Ariaware's SourceSecure service is scheduled to be merged into CVSDude.

Both services offer users source code hosting and project management tools based on the open-source Subversion, CVS, Trac and Bugzilla systems; coupled with an easy, online interface for managing projects, user authentication, and automatic backups.

Under the terms of the agreement, CVSDude will be taking on all of Ariaware's existing SourceSecure customers and the SourceSecure web site and service will be discontinued once the transition is complete.

What will this mean for existing SourceSecure customers?

In short: Business as usual, as well as the added benefit of lower costs and even better support in the future.

SourceSecure accounts will be moved over to the CVSDude system starting January 23rd, 2006 and SourceSecure customers are not scheduled to experience any downtime in the transition.

All SourceSecure users will be placed in the same plans they're on at SourceSecure and will have the option of switching to the lower-priced CVSDude plans once their current contract period is over.

The only change current customers will have to make to access repositories and the online interface is to use the following URLs in place of the SourceSecure URLs.

New access URLS (after January 23rd, 2006)

New Subversion (SVN) URL:

svn1.cvsdude.com

New CVS URL:

cvs1.cvsdude.com

To log in to the online interface, existing SourceSecure customers will be able to use their existing SourceSecure username and passwords to log in at www.cvsdude.com.

Support

For support after January 23rd, 2006, please use the following resources:

Help Desk email address: support@cvsdude.org

Online user forums: http://www.cvsdude.org/forum/

Please note: These changes are not operational at the moment and your username/passwords will not work on CVSDude until accounts begin to be transitioned on January 23rd, 2006. Until this date, please continue to use your SourceSecure account as usual.

OSFlash: Business as usual!

Members of the Open Source Flash (OSFlash) community will also be happy to know that the OSFlash account on SourceSecure will continue to be hosted on CVSDude. My commitment to OSFlash is total and we will continue to host new and existing open source Flash projects for the OSFlash community without charge under the new system.

A personal note

As a personal note, I want to thank both our SourceSecure customers in the last year for their patronage and Mark Bathie, who runs CVSDude and whose efforts have been invaluable in making SourceSecure a reality, for his continued support.

If you're a current SourceSecure customer, you should already have received an email with this information. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to either leave a comment here, email me directly or call me using the numbers provided in the email.
